Why Summer Skin is Oily Yet Dry: Rebalancing Sebum and Moisture

In summer, when sweat and sebum increase, dryness might seem unlikely. Yet, skin can feel oily but tight after washing, or dry out over time in air conditioning. In such cases, it's crucial to reassess not just the amount of sebum, but also its balance with moisture.

Oiliness and Moisture Are Not the Same

The presence of sebum on the skin's surface is not the same as having a sufficiently moisturized stratum corneum. Even if your skin feels moist to the touch due to sweat and sebum, you might experience dryness after washing your face or in an air-conditioned environment.

If you avoid all oil based solely on oiliness, you might end up overwashing or undertreating your skin. First, try observing your skin's texture throughout the day.

Reasons for Imbalance in Summer

Outdoors, we sweat, and indoors, we are exposed to air conditioning for extended periods. Furthermore, if we increase face washing and showering to rinse off sweat, our skin experiences different environments throughout the day.

The key is not to completely strip away sebum, but to replenish necessary moisture after cleansing and maintain a comfortable state.

Summer Basic Care: Reduce Amount, Continue Use

When the season feels heavy, instead of abandoning all products, adjust the amount you use. Start with just one drop of Universal Oil. Spread it thinly in your palms, then apply it to drier areas like cheeks and around the eyes.

Follow with Watery Serum Mist. If your forehead and nose area feel oily, reduce the amount of oil applied and focus on balancing with the mist.

  1. After washing your face, gently blot away moisture without rubbing.
  2. Apply 2-3 drops of Universal Oil, starting with drier areas.
  3. Layer Watery Serum Mist over your entire face.
  4. During the day, apply a small amount of mist to areas that feel dry.

On Oily Days, Adjust Rather Than Add

If your care routine feels too heavy, instead of adding more products, change the amount and where you apply them. What summer skin needs is a balance that can be maintained according to the season.

Even in summer, just one drop of oil.

Instead of avoiding oil, apply just the right amount to the right places. Combine with mist for simple summer skin care.
